“If you haven’t got a competitive advantage, don’t compete.”
Former CEO of General Electric, Jack Welsh

The ability to identify, develop and capitalise on competitive advantage requires a mix of the rational and the creative and the ability to recognise and respond quickly to emerging threat.

The Fundamentals

  • Introduction to strategy
  • Strategic aims (mission and objectives)
  • Analysis of strategic position (Porters forces, PEST, Life Cycle, Segmentation, Activity System and MEDIC)
  • Generation and choice of strategy (BCG Matrix, SWOT, Diversification)
  • Strategy evaluation (Stakeholder analysis, and strategic fit)
